Zhejiang Heen • Hong Kong

Zhejiang Heen was opened at 11 am, 11 November 2011. That precise arrangement was, no doubt, a tilt to Feng Shui considerations.

Zhejiang Heen earned 1 Michelin star in 2013. Chinese people have no worries or qualms about ‘13’. In fact, receiving the accolade in 2013 was very auspicious because the restaurant has kept the star every year since.

Zhejiang Heen is owned by 25 members – including honorary chairpersons – of the United Zhejiang Residents Association. The goal of Zhejiang Heen is to produce authentic, home-cooked dishes of Zhejiang Province and to spread their fame. The owners being lovers of Zhejiang cuisine, it was quite natural to situate the restaurant in the same building where the offices of the United Zhejiang Residents Association are located. So that after gatherings and meetings, members can adjourn directly to Zhejiang Heen to savour food they grew up with.

Hong Kong saw a flood of emigration from Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui from 1937 at the onset of the Second Sino-Japanese War up to 1946 because of the Chinese Civil War. A total of 1.4 million people are estimated to have fled to Hong Kong.

Zhejiang Heen is open to the public who can also join as members of the restaurant. You don’t need to be a member of the association nor be connected with Zhejiang to do that. Members are accorded privileges including no service charge and no corkage fee.
