The Imperial Treasure Group was founded in 2004 by Alfred LEUNG Chi Wai. Today, the group has 15 outlets in Singapore, one in Shanghai, two in Hong Kong, two in Guangzhou, two in Seoul, and one each in London and Paris.
Imperial Treasure restaurants encompass Cantonese, Shanghainese, and Teochew cuisines. Their Super Peking Duck restaurants are also mighty popular. The newest to open in September 2024 is inside Jewel, the sprawling shopping and food & beverage mall at Singapore Changi Airport.
Alfred Leung began his career in 1970. Originally from Hong Kong, he started by working for other restaurants. In the course of time, he saw gaps and opportunities on the Chinese restaurant scene in Singapore and boldly went where no one else had been before.
Leung was the first to introduce la mian restaurants in Singapore and the first Peking Duck restaurant offering ducks of about 45-day old farmed in Malaysia. The same were roasted in a wood, instead of gas, oven. Prior to starting Imperial Treasure, Leung had co-founded the Crystal Jade Group in 1990 and served as its managing director. He also spearheaded that company’s entry into China and Hong Kong.
Imperial Treasure Shanghai offers much more than Shanghainese cuisine. There are Huaiyang cold dishes, Sichuan classics, even Yue or Cantonese favourites. It is quite the most versatile Chinese restaurant in Singapore.
After 13 years at Takashimaya, Imperial Treasure Fine Shanghai has closed its doors on 9 March 2026. They will be relocating and reopening in third quarter of 2026 with a new concept.
