GO HALF-BOTTLES GO!!

It is often observed a magnum takes twice as long (perhaps more) to age than a standard 750 ml bottle. For that reason, the magnum is considered more ideal. Akin to that same reasoning, half-bottles are denigrated because they age twice as quickly.

Myself, I love half-bottles because they are a dream come true. I don’t have the time nor patience to wait twice as long for a wine to evolve.

Do we really want to drink a frisky 3-, even 5-year young Barbaresco. Or a top Chablis villages that is all pent-up and taut at 2, 3 years? Never mind a Premier or Grand Cru that is still wound up in its primary phase at 5 years old! Half-bottles hasten the evolution of a wine, affording an earlier window to enjoy their full potential. Half-bottles should be celebrated twice as eagerly for that reason!!
