Dom Pérignon Launches Takashi Murakami Limited Edition

Dom Pérignon has unveiled a captivating collaboration with Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami, and launched limited editions of Dom Pérignon 2015 and Dom Pérignon Rosé 2010.

Murakami, who holds a PhD in Nihonga painting from the Tokyo University of the Arts, is celebrated for his distinctive fusion of traditional Japanese art with contemporary pop culture.

The limited editions are adorned by Murakami’s signature “Flowers” series — colourful, twelve-petaled blossoms with smiling faces.

Takashi Murakami had wide-ranging collaborations with luxury brands (e.g. Louis Vuitton, Crocs and Supreme) and musicians (e.g. Billie Eilish and Pharrell Williams). “Through my collaboration with Dom Pérignon, I wanted to express a form of time travel. My goal is to remain relevant in 100 or 200 years and to transcend time. When the label has aged, and I am gone, and my children are gone, I hope that people of the future, when they see it, will reimagine 2025 in their own minds.” said Takashi Murakami

Dom Pérignon 2015 was born from a year of climatic contrasts, beginning with a cold spring that transitioned into a prolonged period of hot, dry weather. Harvested under brilliant September sunshine, the impeccably healthy vines yielded grapes of exceptional generosity and balance, resulting in remarkable aromatic richness in the wine.

Dom Pérignon Rosé 2010 represents a significant milestone in the house’s ongoing creative pursuit. It represents ten years of dedicated pursuit, transforming the expression of Dom Pérignon Rosé toward more Pinot Noir.

“In the 17th Century, Dom Pierre Pérignon declared his intention to ‘make the best wine in the world’. Today we perpetuate that creative ambition with each Vintage champagne we elaborate, striving toward harmony as a powerful source of emotion.” said Vincent Chaperon, Cellar Master of Dom Pérignon

The Dom Pérignon legacy dates back to 1668 when Dom Pierre Pérignon, a Benedictine monk, was appointed procurator at the Abbey of Hautvillers. He revolutionized viticulture with precise techniques at a time when empirical methods prevailed, modernized the abbey, restored its vineyards, and dedicated himself to creating “the best wine in the world”
